When the shield serrated knife tunnels in case of soft rock, since there is no certain adhesive force between the disc hob and rock working face, the hob can not roll and string wearing occurs, the hob can not roll and loses effective rock breaking function. Therefore, for soft rock formation, partial disk hobs shall be replaced to serrated knives. Since there are two cutting edges on the serrated knife, the serrated knife can break the rock when the cutter head rotates forward and reserve, and has the soil carrying function when the cutting edge cuts the soil mass.
