When the tunnel boring machine (TBM) is used for construction of subway tunnel, railway tunnel, water tunnel and urban underground pipeline network, the scrapper on the cutter head is the same as the hob. The scrapper is under the dual action of cutter head thrust and torque. The thrust forces the scrapper to insert into the rock slag or rock formation; under the action of cutter head torque, the cutter head drives the tool to turn to scrape the rock formation to form rings of furrows on the working face (the working face which is constantly pushed ahead along with adit excavation).
