When the tunnel boring machine (TBM) is used for construction of subway tunnel, railway tunnel, water tunnel and urban underground pipeline network, the 17" disc positive hob is under the dual action of cutter head thrust and torque on the cutter head. The cutter head thrust presses the cutter ring into the rock mass while the cutter head torque makes the cutter ring to have rolling depression of rock mass. The rock mass breaks under extrusion pressing and shear by the hob; the applicable rock formation of 20Mpa-200Mpa.
